The SIT-Minecraft organization was established on April 23, 2023, and on April 23 of this year, we officially celebrated its first anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we held an offline team-building dinner event on the evening of April 27.
To date, the organization has been in existence for over a year, and our membership has gradually expanded to more than 270 individuals. This event marked our first official offline gathering. When we reunited in front of the university library, the former “online friends” finally got to know each other in person.
At the beginning of the dinner event, we started by introducing our in-game usernames one by one. As the familiar yet impersonal IDs from our memories gradually matched the faces of the classmates before us, our previous imaginations of one another finally became a tangible reality. Through this ice-breaking activity, we overcame the initial awkwardness of meeting for the first time, and members who had been actively communicating online quickly grew closer.
After the meal, we returned online and, with fresh impressions of our fellow members, participated in thrilling Minecraft mini-games with voice chat enabled. We also took a group photo in front of the pixelated recreation of the university library in the game. With this, the SIT-Minecraft first anniversary celebration came to a perfect conclusion.
